Scientific Background on MOMENTUM

MOMENTUM is based on the latest scientific findings and covers three key areas: Mindfulness, Emotional Intelligence and Resilience. These elements are essentials for a healthy, fulfilling and effective life.

Detailed information on the scientific background and study results can be found on the respective subpages.

We are also conducting our own study specifically tailored to the effects of our program. The results will show the impact our approach has on the mental health and well-being of participants. Further insights and initial results will be available here soon.

Emotional Intelligence

Research on emotional intelligence shows that the ability to understand emotions and use them constructively is an advantage in many areas, particularly in interpersonal communication and leadership behavior. Studies suggest that people with high emotional intelligence are more successful in teamwork and conflict resolution. They create a supportive working environment and contribute to improved collaboration.

Mindfulness

Numerous studies suggest that mindfulness can have positive effects on wellbeing and mental clarity. It is associated with an improved ability to cope with stress and enhaced focus. Research shows that people who regularly practice mindfulness often demonstrate greater emotional stability and resilience. In organizations, mindfulness is increasingly being used as a effective tool to improve the working environment and promote employee well-being.

Resilience

Resilience, the ability to bounce back from difficult life situations, is an increasingly researched topic in psychology and organizational development. Studies suggest that resilient people are better able to deal with stress and uncertainty, which is a great advantage in a constantly changing world of work. Resilience not only helps individuals but also teams to cope better with challenges and adapt more quickly to change.

MOMENTUM Study

In addition to these general effects of the MOMENTUM content, we also monitor the program and evaluate the effects. We have been continuously collecting data since 2019. The intervention study shows that MOMENTUM has significant positive effects on job-related skills for both leadership and health management. In addition, it was shown that a training program in conjunction with our app brings about a sustainable change in behavior.

Study Results in Detail

Leadership

  • Mindfulness significantly increases job-specific self-efficacy, which, in turn, positively correlates with job performance and satisfaction.

  • Mindfulness also enhances work engagement, which is positively associated with joy during work.

Health

  • Mindfulness is associated with an increase in well-being and a reduction in emotional exhaustion.

  • In particular, the 6-week use of the MOMENTUM app shows great effects (compared to before and after and compared to the control group).

Self-Leadership

  • Mindfulness training and the app also train calmness, i.e. the ability to pause and find the “pause button” internally before reacting.

  • This goes hand in hand with less anger and reduced conflict in interactions.

  • Mindfulness is the basis for the development and sustainable implementation of individual and company-wide resilience.

  • No emotional intelligence without mindfulness. Emotional intelligence is the vehicle in which mindfulness becomes effective.

  • The development and implementation of emotional intelligence leads to increased resilience, both of individuals and of the company.
